Update
At the 8/3/2021 Finance & Operation Committee Meeting, the Leesburg Town Proffer Funds were discussed. The Committee voted to prioritize the list of projects (see 8/3 agenda https://drive.google.com/…/1BrreAwHYmD…/view…). The prioritization will be an informational item at the 8/10 board meeting.
We need to remain vocal in our advocacy for the prioritization of the funding of playgrounds (we are now grouped with Catoctin and Frederick Douglass for a total of 630K, our request is 205K). The recommendation of the committee was to prioritize the walking tracks at Elementary Schools (500K) and the Playgrounds (630K). After paying out previous expenditures from 2016 at the July Town Meeting for North Star School Design and ROTC building there is currently 1.7 million left in the fund.
2020-2021
Half of all fundraiser revenue last year was designated to the Cool Spring Playground Capital Campaign. We believe that a new, updated playground will enhance the school day for every Cool Spring penguin.
